  3. Help for IBM AntiVirus/DOS

  6. IBM AntiVirus/DOS can prevent, detect and remove computer viruses. It can
  7. work in the background, providing constant protection for your system.
  8. You can also use it directly to check diskettes or hard disks for
  9. viruses. 
  10.  
  11. Use the main window of IBM AntiVirus/DOS to check your system for viruses
  12. now, to check a diskette for viruses, to configure the way in which your
  13. system is checked, to view logs generated during checks, or to view
  14. online help.

  16. When you have configured IBM AntiVirus/DOS to perform an automated check
  17. of your system, it is not usually necessary to check it yourself in this
  18. way.

  21. Keys

  24. Navigation and selection of items within IBM AntiVirus/DOS can be done
  25. with your keyboard or with a mouse. The following keys can be used: 
  26.  
  27. TAB             Moves between areas in a pop-up window. 
  28. ARROW keys      Move between items within an area of a pop-up window. 
  29. SPACE BAR       Selects the currently highlighted item. 
  30. RETURN          Selects the currently highlighted push button. 
  31. ESC             Exits the current pop-up window and returns to the
  32.                 previous one.

  35. Select buttons by using the tab key to highlight them and then using the
  36. space bar to select them. Or, type the single highlighted letter on the
  37. button.

  39. To select an item with a mouse, simply click on it. To exit a pop-up
  40. window, click on the Close icon in the upper-left corner of the frame.

  42. You can use the keyboard or mouse to select items from the menu bar on
  43. the main window and other pop-up windows. To use the keyboard, press the
  44. F10 key to move to the menu bar, the arrow keys to select an item, and
  45. the space bar to select it. To select menu items with the mouse, simply
  46. click on them.

  48. The following keys can also be used from the main window to access some
  49. of the common functions of IBM AntiVirus/DOS. When two key names are
  50. joined by a plus sign (+), use these two keys together, by holding down
  51. the first key and pressing the second key simultaneously.

  110. checking or DOS shielding that has been set up is still in effect even if

  118. can set up automated checking so you do not have to remember to check

  126. Use Automated check to set up automated checking of your system for
  127. viruses or to turn off automated checking. You can also configure the way
  128. this checking is done. When you have configured IBM AntiVirus/DOS to

  130. check the system yourself. This is the recommended way of configuring IBM
  131. AntiVirus/DOS.

  137. Use Shield DOS to tell IBM AntiVirus/DOS to prevent common viruses from
  138. spreading from within DOS. You can also tell IBM AntiVirus/DOS not to

  140. configuring IBM AntiVirus/DOS.

  174. virus check information generated by IBM AntiVirus/DOS. Use this option
  175. to verify that automated checks were done as expected and to review

  178. The cumulative log is kept in the file CUM.LOG in the directory where IBM
  179. AntiVirus/DOS was installed. This is a normal file that can be printed
  180. directly on your printer. An entry is added to the cumulative log each
  181. time IBM AntiVirus/DOS does an automated check. It does not record checks
  182. that you do manually. You can edit or erase this log file if it grows too
  183. large.
